The school’s library media center is the center of our school. Roosevelt’s curriculum, teaching, and activities all rely on what is housed in the library. We integrate classroom objectives and collaborate often with teachers. We are an extension of the classroom curriculum. We hold information about subject areas, recreational interests, Biographies, Fiction, Non-fiction, Picture books and a small reference section.
It is our goal to ensure that students become seekers and users of information. We are striving for independent lifelong readers and learners through critical thinking. The library program goal is to help students and educators become active and efficient users of information.
The library door is always open. We have flexible access to the library throughout the school day. The library is an active place. We often have speakers and special presentations. We have internet access, computers, Reading Counts, a puppet theatre, and spaces for reading and studying. We have large group instruction, small group, as well as assisting individual students.
We are always promoting reading and literacy. We want to encourage the love of reading. We have School of Hope volunteers, Read Across America Activities, Reading Groups, Storytelling, host the Star Lady, Scholastic Book Fair, and our annual book exchange.
Welcome to the Theodore Roosevelt library where we are a partner in your collaborative adventure of learning.
